TEACHING AIDS
The Institute has modern audio, visual equipment, overhead projector, slides projector, TV, VCR for the use of the faculty and students. Sophisticated Software from the Educational Institute of the American Hotel & Motel Association is an added advantage for students to familiarize with the Hotel Computerization programmes which is also available in the Computer Laboratory. Seminars, group discussions & presentations are some of the teaching methods adopted.HEALTH SERVICES
All students are covered by the “Medicare” scheme which entitles them for free medical care and treatment at “ Justice K.S. Hegde Charitable Hospital”.PLACEMENT AND TRAINING
Employers of our Graduates: Our students have trained and are employed at various hotels, some of which are Kuwait Plaza Hotel, Ramada Hotel Doha, Sherton-Abu Dhubai, The Leela, The Taj Group of Hotels, Ramanashree Group of Hotels, KTDC Hotels, Avenue Regent, The Renaissance, Hotel Vasant Continental, Royal Carribean Cruize Lines, GE Capital etc. The college has a very good Placement Cell which has been able to place all successful students in various sections of the hotel industry and other service sectors.Outdoor Catering: The students have an opportunity to ‘earn-while-they learn’ by taking part in Outdoor Catering. To date the college has handled production, display & service of food, salad bars & desserts for wedding functions and conferences catering to 1000-2000 pax.
On-The-Job & Vacation Training: Each day, students are roistered in the various departments of Hotel Pentagon and Taj Manjarun to get hands-on, on-the-job exposure. On Saturdays a batch of students with a designated student Manager run the multi-cuisine restaurant ‘ ROYAL TOUCH’ by themselves. During the vacation our students train at the various hotels in India & abroad.

Activities
Students are encouraged to join and participate in the activities of one or more Clubs to hone their leadership skills, organizing abilities, foster a spirit of community service and be sensitive to community activities at large.1. Rotaract Club: This is an ideal vent to those students who are inclined towards social service. Organizing events to generate funds for the less privileged, visiting old age homes and orphanages and conducting programmes for them, helping out in medical, dental and polio drop administration camps are some of the activities of this club.
2. NSS: Aims to develop a national consciousness among the youth , generate social awareness among the students , promote the dignity of labour among the educated and strengthen the spirit of service and sacrifice in the younger generation . The college NSS Unit conducts Leadership training programmes, blood donation camps, cultural and community service activities.
3. Youth Red Cross: Aims to create a general awareness regarding the health issues affecting the youth of today and help our students improve their own health and also that of others. Workshops and seminars are conducted on Disaster Management, First Aid and Nutrition for all members of the Youth Red Cross Unit of SIHA
4. Consumer Club: The objectives of this club are to educate students about the rights of the consumers, instill in them the spirit of protection of consumer rights and to strengthen the consumer movement in the country.
5. Gastronomy Club: Conducts competitions, various courses/workshops for students in vegetable carving and is involved in planning and preparing the various culinary events of the college.
6. Elixir Club: Is an association of students interested in learning more about wines, spirits and beverages at large. Special Bartending exercises, courses and competitions are conducted through this Club.
Some of the regular activities conducted by the Student's Council to put into practice the theory learnt are:
1. Theme dinners - wherein students are involved in the marketing, production & service of Food & Beverage revolving around a particular theme.
2. Rendezvous - the state level intercollegiate Literary and Hospitality Skills competitions
3. Aroma - the annual Food Festival which caters to 1,500 guests in a span of 4 hours through half a dozen artistically designed food counters representing a variety of cuisines from all over the country/world. This gives the students real life experience of planning, scheduling, organizing and executing a large scale catering operation.
